One of the things I've noticed in students in scene work and actors I may be directing is the hesitancy to lean in to the moment, the uncomfortable moment, some talk about the "cringy" moment, to make a bold choice and go for it. Do not shy away from it. these armaments we usually avoid or just don't come across in day to day life but this is not day to day life, this is something theatrical and extraordinary, an opportunity to explore tactics and feelings that want to be expressed. have fun with these moments, take care with these moments, there is an awe-some responsibility to be on the giving and receiving side of these moments. If executed well and with care, we-the audience- immediately understand something familiar about the experience we're witnessing and we are swept into the world and story that is unfolding before us.
